Prince George Welcomed Canada With Open Arms
The Prince George 2015 Canada Winter Games were held in British Columbia from February 13 – March 1, 2015.
The Canada Games are the country’s largest domestic multisport event and are the pinnacle of inter-provincial/territorial sport competition. The Games are held at two-year intervals, alternating between winter and summer. Athletes and coaches from 13 provinces and territories join together to share the spirit of competition, demonstrate sporting excellence, and celebrate cultural diversity.
These Games are among several high profile national and international sport events hosted in Canadian communities in 2015, the Year of Sport in Canada.
The Government of Canada committed up to $11.12M from Sport Canada’s Hosting Program for the hosting of this event and up to $6.5M to the Canada Games Council for participant travel.
Hosting this event will result in lasting sport development, economic, and community benefits for Prince George, British Columbia and Canada.
