Host a CCI Workshop

The Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI) works with partners in Canada to deliver 16 Regional Workshops across the country each year, from April 1 through March 31. These workshops are designed to be as interactive as possible and are generally two days in length. Some may be customized for a 1- or 3-day format, depending on areas of interest and need, as well as CCI availability. Workshop descriptions are available to help you decide which workshop best meets your needs.

Due to the hands-on nature of these workshops, enrollment must be limited to ensure that all participants enjoy the best possible learning experience.

Contact CCI to discuss your Regional Workshop needs and interests.

Regional Workshops are delivered across Canada as follows:

How to Apply to Host a Regional Workshop

Organizations must apply to CCI to host one of CCI's 16 Regional Workshops. Applications are due by February 15, 2017, and selections will be made by the end of March 2017. To receive email updates about the call for Regional Workshops, please subscribe to CCI’s eNews

Consult the CCI Fee Schedule to determine eligibility for hosting workshops and the associated costs.

The following criteria are used to select hosts:

  • Reason/rationale for hosting the workshop
  • Scope of the audience reached
  • Need to balance workshop offerings among different types of institutions
Preference is given to applicants who can demonstrate a broad benefit to the heritage community, rather than to a single institution.

To discuss any particular requirements for your organization, please contact CCI.

Responsibilities When Hosting a Regional Workshop

In addition to hosting the Regional Workshop, responsibilities also include ensuring the following requirements:

Selecting a Suitable Regional Workshop Location

Hosts must ensure that appropriate facilities are selected for Regional Workshops as some may have unique requirements. Most workshop participants benefit from discussions within the context of a collection. Where possible, hosts are therefore requested to ensure that participants have access to storage and display areas.

Promoting the Regional Workshop

CCI promotes all workshops through its website, eNews and social media. Hosts must also promote their workshops to appropriate target audiences.

Managing Participant Registrations

Hosts are responsible for determining registration fees and for processing all participant registrations. Due to the hands-on nature of these workshops, enrollment must be limited to ensure that all participants enjoy the best possible learning experience. Fees for participating are determined by hosts.

Cancellations

Please note that CCI reserves the right to cancel a workshop if the minimum enrolment requirement is not met:

  • at least 3 weeks prior to the event for Regions 3 and 4
  • at least 4 weeks prior to the event for all other Regions

Providing Training Materials

CCI provides workshop manuals and related materials in digital format to hosts prior to events. These can be printed by the host or forwarded electronically to participants.
