Cpl. Hughes Boisvert-Simard (fencer): “Having a military career is probably one of the best ones for an athlete because working out, being in top physical fitness is at the core of a military lifestyle.”

“They did let me train every morning until 10 like they do themselves—but for me it’s more specific to fencing. And on every military base, you have these sports personnel that can help you out.”

“You have very good facilities, so I can train during lunchtime or in the evening after—it’s very perfect.”

Lieut. Jean Lelion (fencer): “I have tremendous support from my chain of command. My superiors are always behind me, send me emails sometimes. They let me go in tournaments and everything, and I’m really, really glad, and I feel really privileged.”
