Call for conservation treatments 2017–18
The Canadian Conservation Institute is accepting applications until October 15, 2016 for requests for conservation treatment services for 2017–2018. CCI will review all applications for conservation treatment in order to help you meet your collections and exhibition objectives. However, CCI will give particular consideration to objects related to the many milestones in Canadian history leading up to 2017, the 150th anniversary of Confederation.

Caring for Sacred and Culturally Sensitive Objects
CCI has published a new online resource to assist heritage professionals and institutions in the care and preservation of their sacred and culturally sensitive objects. It presents key considerations related to these types of objects in heritage collections as well as the cultural and ethical frameworks surrounding their care. It also deals specifically with the nature of traditional care for Canadian Indigenous sacred or restricted objects and provides advice on the forms it may take within the museum environment.
Web resource Agents of deterioration is now available in Spanish
Thanks to the Centro Nacional de Conservación y Restauración in Chile, the Canadian Conservation Institute’s web resource Agents of deterioration, translated into Spanish by ICCROM, is available free of charge. Intended for curators and conservators, the resource identifies 10 primary threats specific to heritage environments. Make use of this great resource!
Canadian Conservation Institute participates in Doors Open Ottawa – 2016

Thanks to the Centro Nacional de Conservación y Restauración in Chile, the Canadian Conservation Institute's CCI Notes have been translated into Spanish, Notas del Instituto Canadiense de Conservación. They are available free of charge. Intended for a broad audience, the Notes offer practical advice related to the care, handling and storage of cultural objects. Make use of this great resource!
