Secretariat to the Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board
The Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board is supported by a Secretariat that functions as its administrative arm. The responsibilities of the Secretariat include:
- receiving and processing case files for review by Board members
- preparing and issuing Review Board decision letters
- developing policies, guidelines, and procedures on behalf or at the direction of the Review Board
The Secretariat is part of the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada, an integrated service provider that supports 11 federal administrative tribunals.
Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada
The Administrative Tribunals Support Services of Canada (ATSSC) was established with the Administrative Tribunals Support Service of Canada Act, which came into force on November 1, 2014.
The ATSSC is responsible for providing the support services and facilities required by 11 different federal administrative tribunals to exercise their powers and perform their duties and functions as set out in their enabling legislation and rules.
Decision-making independence in relation to the tribunals' adjudicative and substantive functions is fully preserved, and the tribunals maintain control over their rules and procedures. The tribunals remain in their current ministerial portfolios, and tribunal chairpersons have supervision over, and direction of, the work of their respective tribunal.
