Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board - Meeting dates and deadlines

The Canadian Cultural Property Export Review Board meets four times a year to consider certification applications and review requests to appeal refused export permits.

New certification applications, requests for redetermination, and supplementary information for applications on hold are all subject to the same deadline.

Please note: If a certification application is received before a meeting deadline, it does not guarantee that it will be considered by the Review Board at that meeting. Even when they are complete, complex applications may require additional processing time before they can be presented to the Review Board. Applicants will be notified ahead of time if additional information is required or if there are any processing delays.

Electronic submissions will be reviewed by the Secretariat if received by 11:59 p.m. (EST) on the deadline date.

Decision timelines

Certification

Under the Cultural Property Export and Import Act, the Review Board must consider a request for certification and, unless the circumstances of a particular case require otherwise, make a determination within four months after the date the request is received.

Review Board decisions are communicated to the applicant organizations and the donor or vendor as soon as possible, typically within four weeks of the meeting where the application was considered.

Export review

The results of refused export permits are typically communicated to all parties within one week of the Review Board meeting where the request was considered.
