Projects component – Inter-Action: Multiculturalism Funding Program

The Projects component of the Inter-Action: Multiculturalism Funding Program provides funding for community development and engagement projects that are national in scope. These projects promote diversity and inclusion by encouraging positive interaction between cultural, religious and ethnic communities in Canada.

Priority is given to projects that:

  • work toward t he elimination of discrimination, racism and prejudice;
  • provide opportunities for youth community engagement; and
  • bring people together through art, culture and/or sport.

Who can apply

The following groups and institutions are eligible for funding:

  • Canadian not-for-profit organizations and associations;
  • Non-federal Canadian public institutions such as boards of education, schools, colleges and universities, chambers of commerce, law enforcement and police agencies, hospitals and other health-care institutions;
  • Crown corporations as defined in the Financial Administration Act;
  • Provincial, territorial, municipal or regional governments that apply in partnership with a non-governmental organization;
  • First Nations and Inuit governments, band councils and organizations;
  • Private sector (applicants from the private sector must include at least one not-for-profit partner organization in the form of either financial or in-kind support).

How to apply

Read the Application Guidelines in their entirety before completing your application.

You must meet all the eligibility requirements and submit a complete application package by the deadline to be considered for funding. A complete application package includes:

  • the Application Form (PDF version, 294 KB);
  • the Budget Form (PDF version, 250 KB); and
  • the following supporting documents:
    • a project and activities timeline;
    • a dissemination plan for knowledge gained and tools produced;
    • an evaluation plan that will measure and assess immediate and loner-term project results;
    • recent financial statements (annual audited statements if available);
    • documents demonstrating your organization’s legal constitution, bylaws and incorporation, or articles of association for unincorporated applicants; and
    • letters of supports from projects partners (if applicable).
